Privacy Policy

The short version: Run Ready is designed to collect as little data as possible. No account is required. We do not sell your personal data and we do not build personal profiles based on your location. Location is used to provide weather and lightning safety information, and is never retained longer than your current session.

1. Information We Collect

Run Ready: Gear Advisor is designed to be private by default. Here is what the app accesses and why:

  • Location data (weather) — GPS coordinates are requested when you use the "Current Location" feature. Coordinates are used solely to fetch a weather forecast for your area. They are transmitted directly to our weather provider and are never stored on our servers or associated with any user profile.
  • Location data (Safety Monitor) — If you start Safety Monitor, your location is sent to our backend during the active session to check for nearby lightning. Only the most recent location is held — there is no location history. All session data is deleted immediately when you stop monitoring, or after a short automatic timeout. Background location is used only while Safety Monitor is running and only with your explicit permission.
  • Weather preferences and settings — Your unit preferences, gear thresholds, and display settings are stored locally on your device only and are never transmitted to any server.
  • Run forecast history — Any run history or saved forecasts are stored locally on your device only and are never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
  • Minimal usage telemetry — The app may send basic, non-identifying usage signals (such as which features are used and whether the app loaded successfully) to help us understand reliability and improve the app. No precise location is included in any analytics event. No personal profile is built from this data.

No account is required. Run Ready does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information such as your name, email address, or date of birth.

2. How We Use Information

The information described above is used exclusively to provide the core functionality of the app:

  • Location coordinates are used to fetch your local weather forecast and, during an active Safety Monitor session, to check for nearby lightning risk.
  • We do not use your data for advertising or to build personal profiles. Minimal usage telemetry is used only to understand feature reliability and improve the app.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party except as described in Section 3 (Third-Party Services), and only as necessary to deliver app functionality.

3. Third-Party Services

Run Ready uses the following services to function. Each has its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review:

  • Apple WeatherKit — Used to fetch weather forecasts. Apple may process location data to return forecast results. See Apple's attribution and privacy information at weatherkit.apple.com/legal-attribution.html.
  • NOAA GLM / National Weather Service — Lightning proximity data (NOAA GOES Global Lightning Mapper) and severe weather alerts (NWS) are used to power the Safety Monitor feature. These are free public services. No personal data is transmitted to NOAA or the NWS.
  • Cloudflare — Our safety and weather backend runs on Cloudflare Workers. During a Safety Monitor session, your latest location is held briefly on Cloudflare's infrastructure and deleted immediately when monitoring ends. Minimal operational telemetry may be logged.   • Apple App Store / StoreKit — Pro subscriptions are processed directly through Apple's App Store. Pixeljogger does not receive or store your payment information. All billing is managed by Apple.

4. In-App Purchases

Run Ready offers a Pro subscription at $4.99/year with a 3-day free trial. All purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. Pixeljogger does not collect or store your payment information.

Subscription status is validated directly on-device via StoreKit. No third-party subscription management service is used. No personally identifiable information is involved in this process.

5. Data Retention

All data generated by Run Ready — including settings, preferences, and any cached forecasts — is stored locally on your device using iOS standard storage mechanisms.

  • Data is retained on your device until you delete the app.
  • Deleting the app removes all locally stored data.
  • Pixeljogger does not maintain any server-side records associated with individual users.

6. Children's Privacy

Run Ready is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through our app, please contact us at support@pixeljogger.com and we will address it promptly.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the app evolves or as legal requirements change. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.

We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
